Can Peyronie's Disease Be Cured ?

The honest answer to this question is yes and no. Methods do exist that alleviate Peyronie’s or, in some cases, eliminate it entirely; however, there is no preventive measure that can stop Peyronie’s from occurring in the first place. Successful treatment methods include penile surgery to correct curvature caused by Peyronie’s or usage of penis enlargement devices.

What is Peyronie’s?

Peyronie’s, which affects 388 out of 100,000 men worldwide, is characterized by an abnormal development of fibrous tissues within the penis resulting in awkward, painful curvature during erections. The disease typically impacts men between 40 and 60 years of age, but cases have been reported in males still in their teens.

Left untreated, Peyronie’s not only causes uncomfortable erections with curvatures between 30 and 60 degrees, it can limit or prohibit sexual penetration, impotency, and sterility.

Treatment options include medication and vitamin supplements, penile surgery, or penis enlargement devices.

Penis enlargement devices

Penis enlargement devices are class 1 medical devices that support the growth of tissue cells within the penis. Through gentle traction, blood flow to the penis increases resulting in an increase in penis length up to 3 inches and up to 60% correction of curvatures.

Penile correction surgeries

Various surgical options exist for treating Peyronie’s, the most commonly utilized being plication, excision - grafting, and prosthetic implants. While these surgeries can successfully correct curvature of the penis, they do carry serious risks, such as impotence or infection.

Plication surgery

This surgery works by reducing the length of one side of the penis to match the other in order to achieve symmetry. While this method will remove the abnormal curvature and straighten the penis, it will also result in an overall shortening of the penis.

Excision-Grafting surgery

To perform this surgery, an incision is made in the tunica albuginea (fibrous connective tissue in the penis) and new tissue is grafted on. This procedure straightens the penis but carries the risk of deformity due to blood vessel damage inflicted by the graft as well as shortening of the penis and impotence.

Prosthetic Implantation surgery

This procedure involves surgically implanting a semi-rigid cylinder into the corpora cavernosa (erectile tissue) to straighten a bent penis. Like other penile surgeries, this implantation can lead to impotency.

Surgery or penis enlargement devices?

It is true that penile correction surgery and penis enlargement devices both hold promise for correcting penile curvatures caused by Peyronie’s disease, however, penis traction devices offer positive results without the dangerous complications caused by surgery.

Penis traction devices are risk-free and backed by stringent European CE medical standards. Devices have not been known to cause unwanted deformities or impotence, both risks of penile surgery.
